Doug retired as Team Captain of The Washington Capitals at the end of the 1974-75 season after playing a surprising seventy five (75) games at the age of forty-one .(Proving his unusual strength and durability.)

Doug was one of the most versatile players of his time. He could have played on any team in any era.
