It also has specific scope and resources. A project is also unique in that it is not a routine business operation. The project has a unique set of operations that aim to accomplish one goal.

Using templates not only improves your efficiency, it also brings much-needed standardization to your project management process. Instead of creating documents on an ad-hoc basis, you can have a single template for every function that can be used across the organization.

While a project plan is a document that may require Excel charts but is otherwise composed in Microsoft Word. For basic projects, however, you may get away with only a Microsoft Excel document.
